Pepsi Vs. Coke: What’s Wrong With People? (Part 4 of 5)

So, yeah, I do believe that humans were created by God (be it by immediate power or divine creative agent via evolutionary processes, it doesn’t matter right now), with a purpose and focused on Good Thing is, I don’t think many people like the idea of what the concept of a creative, personal, intelligent, powerful moral being entails because it exposes us to our greatest fault: the Ultimate Horrid Thing.

The Bible doesn’t pull punches on the faults of men—something very different from other belief systems. In other systems the religious leaders lead are monolithic heroes, standing firm in trouble but not so in the Judeo Christian system. Right across the Biblical record the Heroes (Abraham, Noah, Moses, David, Paul, Peter, etc.) are left naked and exposed.

Abraham was a liar. Noah, was a drunk. Moses was a murderer. David slept with another man’s wife, lied about it and killed her husband. Paul was a persecutor, a liar, and a hunter of Christians. Peter rejected Jesus to his face, denied him behind his back and later on was still making huge mistakes.

But those very human faults are not the Ultimate Horrid Thing that Men have done and continue to do. They weren’t the first, they weren’t the worst.

Let’s go back to that book illustration from the other day. You sat down, you wrote it, you created characters, gave them lives and boundaries and nice plot lines. Then one day you come along and those characters you wrote refuse to follow the rules of writing, denied the fact that they were your characters and in fact, took you and said you were just some other character: there to be denied or to be erased completely, closing the book on you completely.

It’s ridiculous when you hear something like that because it’s not possible yet that is very much like the Ultimate Horrid Thing men have done.

Man stood in God’s place and saw his own decision as holding a higher moral priority than that of the One who created him. The character decided what was right for itself and refused to listen to the Writer. The Ultimate Horrid Thing is that Man has denied God his Godness by refusing to let Him be God.

Let me restate that: God isn’t God…I AM.

Sure I kill, but I do that when I see that life is just something I have the power to snuff out…as if I’m not answerable for that. Sure I lie…but that’s something I do knowing that the only one who knows the Truth is Me.

There is no God but Me. I make my decisions and they stand. It is My Mind over Matter and only the stringent restraints of this life are the occasional bad times that I fall into which hold me back from my full potential.

It’s bloody scary but that is the motivation behind the ten year old stamping his feet and the Hitler signing the executive order. That’s the motivation behind the child molester and the woman creating her own proper religion of Mind Over Matter.

That kind of thinking justifies anything.
