Robertson added goggles, a trench, and a darker version of the palette that added an edge but still allowed him to be the light comic relief for the team, kind of their version of the Wally West Flash. Joe Quesada, currently Marvel's EiC, never cared for the character and joked about killing him. Instead, he made him indirectly responsible for the deaths of his team and hundreds of civilians, and had an explosion alter his kinetic abilities. Now he goes by the name Penance and wears some kind of spiky Iron Maiden costume that causes him constant pain but allows him to access his modified kinetic abilities.
