Kinder-Theology

God is the Remote Control and we are the televisions.
What? (i didn’t have a clue what my son was talking about.)
God is the Remote Control and we are the televisions. He’s in control of everything we do.
Ah. But what about when you’re bad?
God is still the Remote Control.
But Sy, you’re responsible when you do bad. You are
responsible. Laura, why am I having a conversation about divine sovereignty and
human responsibility with my five year old?
I don’t know.
You know what happens when we’re bad?
What Sy? (what was he going to say now, i wondered)
God turns off the TV.

i think that was miscommunicated: he’s the one who came up with the tv/remote analogy.

Good stuff. My son has been demanding an explanation of the trinity since he was four. “How can God be one person AND three people?” Every attempt to explain it I’ve made has left him looking even more confused. Last time I tried he just said “You’re not helping.”
All in all I think it’s good that they’re puzzling these things out at an early age. It’s good to know that these things matter to them.

Ah, OK you edited this I think. When I commented it seemed like you asked him “You know what happens when we’re bad?” then HE said “What?”(You didn’t have his name there before) and then I thought YOU told him “God turns off the TV.” I was like, Rey’s a scary dad.
