I remember on one of the occasions when my old company was laying people off, and everyone was tensely waiting for the ominous ring of a phone that signified Their Turn, a buddy of mine thought it would be really funny to call my phone. My nervous “H-hello?” was greeted with a long silence, followed by raucous laughter from his cubicle a few feet away, followed by me dashing over and punching that guy in the lower back, at which point he also cried out about his kidney.
I wonder whatever happened to that guy, and what he’s up to these days….

That’s too bloody funny because she did punch me in the lower back while I was doubled over laughing and I was like “MY KIDNEY!”
