Rey’s Insane Bailout Package

Instead of pouring billions into the auto industry and the overarching bank and the trading companies the government should implement the following ridiculous suggestions:

1) Absolution of all credit card debt. The banks are already at a loss but giving them money from the government isn’t going to help them; renewed confidence in the economy will. That has to be addressed by dealing with the people who are currently strapped.

2) Halving of Auto Loan debt. All auto loan periods are halved. This way people who haven’t been shopping for cars (and even holding off on buying anything) now think it’s okay to get back into the market. The more people shopping for cars should (hopefully) drive the cost of cars down.

3) Mortgage Recalculation. Stupid purchases are renegotiated with a new appraised value of the home. People who got into stupid large homes now pay for what the home is actually worth instead what the market said it was worth. Everyone loses money but no one is on the street.

4) Credit Card Regulations and Fee Caps. No more of this free for all Credit Card industry that swoops down on college students. If a person doesn’t have (X) years of work [times] (Y) salary [times] (Z) credit rating history [dived by] (M) Debt [greater than] (L) Number: the person doesn’t get plastic. If anyone gets plastic it has a maximum that the person is allowed based on recalculation of the numbers. My math is awful so I’m sure an economist can come up with something that works.

5) Hybrid Infusion. Part of the taxpayers money is used to make small, economical hybrids which are sold back to consumers at half their current prices (since they’re already partially owned by the taxpayers).

6) Home and Private School Tax Credit. No more taxing people who do public or private schooling. Private schools have state accreditation so they’re fine. Homeschoolers have to take state tests to prove that they’re doing the work and are up to a certain level. Sixth grade homeschoolers, private schoolers and public schoolers should have a portfolio of the work done throughout the year to evaluate if there’s a steady education going.
