I still maintain that Superman II is the best of the series, if not one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. Not only does it have that insane superbrawl done with traditional special effects, but it has the great comeback moment when the odds are still stacked against Superman but he gets his powers back and calls out the Phantom Zoners anyway. I still get chills from that “care to step outside” scene. And I still like the “I’ve been working out” tag with the diner, although I suspect that was one of the non-Donner campy elements the article mentions. I really need to check out the Donner Cut one of these days to see the difference.
I thought the theatrical ending for I Am Legend was the right one, and I was expecting something like that based solely on The Omega Man, my only previous experience with this story. The article made good points though both in the direction the film was going, and the fact that the book, which I haven’t read, ended differently from both films.
That Weezer video is 10 flavors of awesome. Up until the end I thought they were just cleverly editing existing internet clips, and even now I’m not sure, but by the end it really looks like they actually recruited many of those people. Very cool either way.
Yep, it’s really them:

Cool.
Some of the things about the I Am Legend novella was way off in the article. For example, the writer says that the Will Smith character was holding a girl hostage in the book: he really wasn’t. She had purposefully let herself get captured to be in the house and get intel on him even if the fact was that he did grab her and force her to his home.
So the article was decent but needed deeper research.
And yeah, the video was awesome.
