I mean, honestly just some throw-down requirements?

Powerful, someone might say.

But then that’s what people throughout time have ascribed to gods. The Greek and Roman gods had immense power and despicable attitudes and, on a whim, they wreaked havoc on the lives of men. Odin was immensely powerful and so was Thor and Loki a horrid prankster but in the end one of his jokes went too far and struck up the Ragnorak. Gods with ultimate power and the immoral antics of men.

Power was equated to Deity so much that Head of States would ascribe Godhood to themselves and reserve divine privileges. After all, if the emperor could kill you, take your wife, make you bow down to him and is the ultimate authority in the state doesn’t he have all the power? Doesn’t that make him a living god among men?

Even today we’re still of the very public opinion that whoever has the most power wins. Germany is stronger than Poland and she wins. And then they can do whatever they want until someone with more power steps in and does something. Even now we hear the murmurings of other countries talking about the advantage that America takes of other nations. Political issues aside, the fact is that power lets people do a lot of things that are downright wrong.

So then when we think about God having ultimate power I think we’d also agree that such a being would have to have some sort of rational, moral or responsible usage of that power.

What are some requirements for a god?
