MCF asked<\/a> \u201cWhat are the best things in your life that have returned?<\/strong>\u201d for his blog party. Well, Jesus didn\u2019t come back yet though I\u2019m waiting. I never had a pet that could get lost to begin with: fish seldom run away from bowls. The books that people have borrowed remain borrowed. I haven\u2019t even had any near death experiences (that I recall anyway). Heck, I\u2019m not even aware of family members having near death experiences. If they did, they usually got too close and had a complete death experience.<\/p>\n

I guess I can wax eloquent and talk about dreams (like the time in a half dream state I dreamed that my dead Grandmother was back and that freaked me out for days) or I can talk about friends that have come back into my life (which would stink because they usually consisted of two completely different people talking about times fourteen years past\u2014horrid).<\/p>\n

Instead I will update the question: \u201cWhat are the best things in your life that have returned<\/strike> repeated?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Now I can talk about anything: be it good times with my wife, wrestling with my son or hearing my daughter giggle conspiratorially<\/strike> like a sly demon (*check comments…:) ). I can talk about re-runs on TV (like the Nanny marathon that was running on Nick at Night) or I can talk about Ellen Degeneres\u2019 talk show where they were talking about Kitty. I can list the times I\u2019ve watched Star Wars (with commercials) simply because it was on!<\/p>\n

But no. The best things that have ever repeated have been meals. I don\u2019t mean that nasty burp that tastes like everything you\u2019ve had for lunch or dinner\u2014that\u2019s gross. I\u2019m talking about seconds (and thirds).<\/p>\n

I love seconds (and thirds). If the meal is tasty I may even go as far as fourths. Mind you, I\u2019m not three hundred and twenty two pounds and yes my metabolism is catching up with me\u2014I just love a good hearty meal.<\/p>\n

Buffets are lovely. So are church dinners. And so are home meals with several repeat refilling. Repeat 1: don\u2019t stack up the plate but focus on meat. Repeat 2: don\u2019t stack up the plate but focus on some other meat family. Repeat 3: Pastas or Rice. Repeat 4: Salads and fruit. Repeat 5: Dessert. Repeat 6: Hobbits might call this \u201cfilling the corners\u201d. It\u2019s that sated part of the meal where you\u2019re just tucking bits and pieces of bread.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
