United Nations Convention on Children’s Rights

The original is located here. This is a long post without much commentary but it’s definitely worth reading seeing what the UN considers Children’s Rights. The Arabic States noted some of the language in regard to the Child’s right to religion and ratified it on their signing. Other countries noted the language about a child’s right to life after and before birth and ratified the language there as well. The US has yet to sign or ratify.

I’m writing this from my iPod so forgive the grammar. Disney once again proves why they’re in the lead. Why oh why NBC did you see it fit to drop one of your smartest and funniest shows?
Frankly, the opener was genious going back to the classic power of yesterseasons combining the sobering topic of death and suffering with a poignant sense of humor.
In a word, the openers were perfect.
One final note: new cast additions. Excellent! The reference to Facts Of Life, Courtney Cox, the way too cool indian kid–all excellent.

I hate New Years Resolutions so you won’t hear one coming from me. It just smells of Law and once something like that rises up, I die and wind up breaking my resolution.
Be that as it may I plan to go through the Bible in 13 weeks or 90 days again. I’ve had it set up before, I usually wind up doing it every year but some of my studies sometimes gets me stuck in a specific book and then that’s the end of the 90 days.
But Zondervan has thought that 90 day Bible Readings are a great idea so they published a sheet for people to use. I’m also supplying my own sheet with a daily reading but focused more on the order of book publishing—it’s a Historical reading of the Bible so you get to see the thought flow running through scripture and finally culminating at Revelation (note, how on mine John is one of the last books of the Bible which makes a nice bracket with Genesis. Also, I lost my original chart and had to redo this one so if a book is missing, let me know!)
Anyway, feel free to use and abuse them. It’s a lot of reading and some days you’ll wind up reading more than others since my goal was to make sure an entire book is read at a sitting –but if not it gets split up into several readings.

12 Drummers Drumming Awful Christmas Songs

Anyone who has ever worked with me knows that sometime around September fifteenth I begin listening to Christmas music and don’t stop until late January. Anyone who is close to me knows that my Christmas tree goes up on Black Friday and comes down sometime after Valentine’s Day. I have no problem telling everyone that I love Christmas on so many levels.
Theologically its the part of the story where we get closer to the climax (of the Cross on Easter). Holiday wise, everybody seems happier (even if they’re busier and the stores are ridiculously crowded). Musically stations take a breather from the normal junk and some of them actually devote a month to Christmas music! You can hear it everywhere.
But some of it is tremendously awful and its the one of the two things that I hate about the Christmas Season. This year I decided to compile a list of the 12 Awfullest Awful Christmas Music for your listening displeasure. Feel free to Despise.
