Barring my faulty memory (and if I’m not lazy) I want to post prayers on Monday from all over Church History and then throughout the modern day, and then my own. This one comes from me for Memorial Day.
Lord we thank you for our place that you give:
Where we stand, where we live, where we breathe.
For it is by your grace
And by your mercy
That we find ourselves here where we live.
Lord we thank you for the freedoms we currently enjoy.
An aberration in history, we know.
But it was by your grace
And by your mercy,
That here is where our lives are employed.
Lord we thank you for the soldiers’ stance.
For it was by his position and his fall that this place has been carved out.
But it was by your grace
And by your mercy
That we were put here not by chance.
Lord forgive us for our violent ways and our fights.
In this world of sin, you know, we know no other way.
We wait by your grace
And by your mercy
For our rescue from this our plight.
Lord remind us to rejoice as we remember
Even in light of all the pain.
Because it is by your ever flowing grace and mercy
That all our remembrances redound on our remembrance of Christ.
Amen.
